KI fans.. what emu are you using?

I'm a huge KI fan, but my 1.6GHz P4 wasn't cutting it with MAME and for some reason, U64 would always crash and shut down on my machine.

Now I've got a dual P4 (3 Ghz) with 1 gig of RAM and a PNY GeForce 6800 video card... it runs better, but with a lot of audio stuttering (MAME v104).  I was under the impression that people were running it perfectly in MAME, but that might have been wishful thinking.  What emu are all the KI fans running this game under?

Is it better to focus my efforts in getting U64 to work?  (I might have better luck on my newer machine).

I'll also try getting the latest Direct X version.. maybe that'll help a little.

MAME

even when u64 was the only option, it was by no means stable nor did it emulate things accurately (even the author admitted to the timings being way off).

Thanks,

I wouldn't want to fool with u64 if the timings are going to be off then.  I'll just go ahead with the plan to try DirectX 9.0c and fool with the settings a little to see what happens.

Any suggestions on what else I should try?  I've already got the audio sampling rate bumped down and triple buffering turned off.

Would the fact that I'm running MAME32 have much to do with it also?

Thanks for the input!

Howard_Casto:
Well if by dual p4 you mean 2 1.5 gig p4s then you issue is lack of processing power (mame doesn't use dual processors well, nor does any windows app for that matter).

Otherwise, you shouldn't be having issues as your pc is powerful enough to run ki and ki2 just fine.  Turning off auto-frame skip should help as well.  Also try turning the audio latency up a notch.

Dizzle:
They're two 3Ghz processors... didn't think they'd be all that useful in MAME.. probably only getting use out of one of 'em.

I'll try the audio latency when I get home.  Thanks Howard  :)
