I have the same thing with those N64/PS2 USB adapters.  Super Smash Bros runs like poop though.  Is that how it goes for everyone?

maybe my little P4 isn't enough....any ideas?

Dustin Mustangs:
Try messing with the video options on your emulator, specifically the resolution.  That can speed things up or slow things down quite a bit I've noticed.

Did you have to pull out any tricks to get the analog sticks to work?  What emulator are you using?

I have an adapter for psx pads that I can't get to work in project64.  The test dialogue in windows control panel show the analog sticks working fine, but then when I get in p64 all the buttons work but no response from the analog at all??

Hmmm, not that I recall... But I'm not using real console controllers, they are just USB PC gamepads (Logitech dual-action I think they are called).  I'm also using Project64.  I'll check when I get home and see if there was anything else I had to do to get them recognized, but I don't remember having any trouble mapping the controllers.

Here's a link to the cheapo gamepads I'm using (I think they work great).

Mario Kart 64 runs like a dream and you can play with your arcade controls no problem.  Also I love playing games like Destruction Derby 64 of the arcade, pretty much most racing games. Games like Mario 64 are impossible to play with the arcade controls. To solve this problem I have some usb converters for n64 controlers. To be honest thought they dont get much use because why would I be standing/sitting in front of my Mame cabinet using a n64 controler when I could be in front of my computer or TV.

All in all its nice to have but the N64 emulator rarely gets used.  I noticed almost all of my emulators get ignored for Mame instead.  Mame just seems to give you more instant gratification for what your playing.

whats it like playing mario kart wtith arcade controls.. seriously...

I would actually rather play Mario Kart with the arcade controls.  I think its just a richer experience. The controls are so easy to use this way. There are not many other games that I would choose to play this way though. Only a couple racers and thats about it.
