Help me learn how to identify cabinets
(1/1)
MTD2:
I'm looking for a Williams cabinet to turn into a multi-williams cabinet. I have a couple of sources for these cabinets, but I'm unsure if they are really williams cabs.
Is there a way to determine if a cabinet is indeed a Williams and thus all of the repro for the Multi-kits would fit (marquee, control panel, etc).
The cabinets I'm able to locate of course have been converted into all sorts of horid things. They look like a Robotron or Joust cab and the measurements are close.
Does anyone know if they were often used for Tetris conversions. It seems that every Tetris cab I see looks like it was a Joust or Robotron.
Thanks for any insight.
TOK:
For me, the easiest way to spot a Joust or Robotron machine is the rounded front to the control panel. Williams panels use rounded off wood which gives their otherwise generic cab's a unique look.
Stargate has the same panel with a more deeply set monitor (monitor sides aren't cut away).

Agreed....
If it helps...Ive noticed more than a few Mortal Kombat 1 cabinets (pretty cheap/easy to find), used to be Joust cabs.
Good Luck!
MTD2:
So the next question is . . . . any cabinets with the rounded control panel that aren't Williams cabs?
Bellbane:
Heres a link to a few pics of williams cabinets I'm giving away in the Buy/sell/trade forum.
It has been my experience that Moonpatrol, joust and Robotron cabinets are converted into NeoGeo cabs quite often.
