Ever play the classics on the PSP?
lovespicyfood:
Hello Everyone,
I've been learning a lot and really enjoying myself on this forum, THANKS! I'm in the beginning stages of "building" my arcade cabinet, but as I'm sure you can all attest to, it's a lengthy process! As it stands, I have three sheets of 3/4" MDF in my garage, a groovygamegear spinner and a trackball (that just shipped!). Oh yeah, and I've purchased several tools so I'm almost there (router, cordless drill, clamps galore, etc.).
In the meantime, I've been REALLY enjoying playing the classics on my PSP. I know the purists would be horrified to hear such a thing, but I have to tell you that most of the games play extremely well on it! I have the "Namco Battle Museum Collection" and just purchased the "Capcom Classics" game today.
From the Namco game I discovered "Motos", what a GREAT game! Most importantly, the controls work great for it on the PSP. "Mappy" is AWESOME and it's nice that you can flip the screen to really utilize the widescreen of the PSP. I have also logged many hours on "Bosconian". Unfortunately, Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man, Rally X and Dig Dug don't work well IMHO because the controls are funky.
I haven't played with the Capcom game a lot yet, but it's loaded with a ton of games, 20 in all!
Hope someone finds this interesting...

Yes. Even tried MAME on it, but it kind of sucked. NES and Genesis emulators were good, but I finally got burned out on it and upgraded my firmware when some decent games finally starting coming out for PSP.
Seemed kind of silly to have every piece of cutting edge hardware I own dedicated to playing 25 year old games. You'll find juch more stuff about PSP in the consoles forum.

Wow, a good game came out for the psp, I must have missed that. Since I finished all the old scumm games I never got around to finishing before, my psp has been collecting so much dust.

I think the Gamepark is a much better choice for Mame gaming. I've played the first version once and it felt pretty good. Don't know about the new one though, but the specs are even nicer.
