Nope.  Just paint the sucker.... MDF paints real easy.  The cut edges that show - like on your CP  edges tend to soak up the paint quite a bit so sand them to a smooth finish and you won't have a problem.

I've had no problems painting MDF.  I've always used a latex primer, then semi-gloss latex paint.  I used thin coats and sanded between each coat, 2 coats of primer and 5 coats of paint, made for an extremely nice finish.

ok last question should i prime and paint the cp top? i'm going to put artwork on it and arcyic glass sheet on top as well.

it HAS TO BE Hammerite for the black finish on your cab.

I did, I figured an extra bit of protection to keep moisture from getting in couldn't hurt and it wasn't much more work since I was already painting all the other pieces.
