MameWah and Gamepad

Okay, before you guys kill me, yes I did a search and I'm still having trouble.  :'(

Here's what I have:
   * Windows XP
   * MamWah 1.62b10
   * Logitech Dual Action Gamepad
   * Emulators currently loaded: z26 and Nestopia
   * joy2key for use with the emulators

I found through my searches that I need to use Joy2Key get get MameWah to work via gamepad.  Is this true?  Looks like it should work natively, but it doesn't....at least not for me.

I got JoytoKey loaded for the emulators fine, but not MameWah.  If I put it in the "startup_app_commandlines" I run into problems.  I need to kill the old Joy2Key before it loads the new Jot2Key with the different configuration.  If I use a batch file, the cmd box hangs.  Here's how I have it looking now...

Mamewah.ini
### External Application Settings ###
startup_app_commandlines                  c:\games\bin\killjoytokey.exe
exit_app_commandlines
exit_and_run_app_commandlines

This just makes sure I don't have a Joy2Key loaded.  Works great, but I can't use the gamepad in MameWah.

Atari 2600.ini
### Execution Settings ###
pre_emulator_app_commandlines             c:\games\bin\joytokey.exe c:\games\bin\atari260.cfg{nowait}{autoquit}
emulator_commandline                      c:\games\emulators\atari260\emulator\z26.exe "[rompath]\[name].[romext]" -v8 -iJ{nodosbox}
post_emulator_app_commandlines            c:\games\bin\killjoytokey.exe
general_app_commandlines

This setup works great, but I can't use the gamepad in Mamewah.  If I need to put the killjoy2key.exe in the pre_emulator_app commands it doesn't wait long enough and it won't load the new config.

My problems would be solved if Mamewah supported gamepads natively...I think...  How do you guys have it working.  What can I change to make this work?

Again, I appreciate all the help you have given me so far.  I can't wait to get this working.

No, it has native support.  You need to edit the ctrlr file and turn on joystick at least...where this file is depends on the version of Mamewah - assuming v1.61, it is the \mamewah\ctrlr\default.ini file.

Slope:
I'm running version 1.62b10.

How do I turn it on?  I edited the default.ini file and am using these settings:

# 0 or 1 (off / on)
keyboard 1
mouse 0
joystick 1

Oh and at the top it has...

# main form
UP_1_GAME         "DIK_UP

Slope:
I just found the .\config\mamewah.cfg and have made the change there and it still doesn't work.  Here's what the config file looks like:

### INPUT MAPPINGS ###

# main form
UP_1_GAME         "DIK_UP

Slope:
I got it!!!  ;D  I was using the wrong config file.

Thanks MineWah for your help.  And thanks for making such a cool front-end!!   :D
