Hi, no, I'm not using a video amp. I searched in mame.ini but I couldn't find anything related to brightness.
I have a pot to control brightness - it can eliminate the bleeding but the image becomes too dark.
I changed the brightness settings in the mame32.ini file. With mame32 the bleeding has been eliminated.
Can I adjust the brightness for each game without using the pot? Final Fight was too bright with my sf2ce setting. Adjusting the pot for each game is irritating.

Sounds to me like you may wish to check out AdvanceMame. It allows very detailed setting of the monitor refresh settings, for general resolution categories, for rom-specific choices, etc.

It's been a long time since I used it, so I can't vouch for what has happened to it lately, but I see no reason this wouldn't fix all of your issues:
