Minipac/Keywiz/GP-Wiz "breakout" terminal strip board.... interest?
mahuti:
Wait though... does it have to be a minipac? If what you're imagining IS like my gracphic.. couldn't it be for any encoder? Just a generic ribbon cable attacher...
cholin:
Sorta... its more in the shape of an iPac because it has terminal strips along both sides and just a header in the middle. I could make it generic, but I based it around a BASIC pinout of the minipac, allowing 2 player controls and a trackball + spinner.
If people wanna pay for the extra board size and the terminals I can make it something like 18 along each side and 3 down an edge with the header in the center...
That way, there's 39 blocks... 40 of the IDE cable minus the first pin which usually has no function.

So since I cant add another poll, which module would people prefer? The more expensive, but more useful 39 terminal one, or the alternate one with like 30?
markrvp:
39.
I think there is a real market for this.
Here is a picture of the one Hagstrom Electronics offers for their KE72 encoder.
cholin:
Yeah, sorta like that, except its a long and skinny board rather than a square, since you pay for size and it seems more effective this way...
I was gonna ditch the silkscreening and just post a documentation or give a sheet of paper w/ the pinouts. This way, I can make doublesided boards, save money, sell cheaper. Im really not making much (if any) money on these, im really just supplying parts, and most likely solderring it all together.
Good part is, people can request only the board for like 3 bucks :) So, 3 boards interest so far... not enough for an order.... keep it going!
markrvp:
Yeah, rectangular is better.
I'm in for 3 boards.
