Need helping with clones
(1/1)
leapinlew:
I did some searching and although I feel this question is probably asked a lot, I couldn't find the answer.
I am resetting my mame box up and I wanted to use a frontend. I was booting straight into mame and it's just not as nice as the screenshots I'm seeing everyone use. I want to use Mamewah. I've already set it up... to a point. The problem I'm having is my roms are in a zip format. Many times I would like to play the clones instead of the parent. Mamewah (as well as gamelauncher) listed the parent rom only. I would like some help either:
1. Having Maewah list all the roms and then how to remove the roms I don't wish to see (I'm one of those "idiots" that had a hard time conifiguring mamewah so as detailed as you'd like to make the instructions - I won't mind). I love the screenshots and it seems everyone is using mamewah.
2. some automated program that removes the clones from the parent. Would simply unzipping the files do this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

It sounds like you are either using merged roms or you have Mamewah filtering only parent roms.

Try ClrMAMEPro - that will split the sets automatically for you. One this is done you can use Mamewah to filter out clones if you don't want to see them. There should be quite a few threads on how to do the latter, but please post if you can't find them.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I think the computer I'm on is toast because of all the frontends I've tried. I've eventually figured out that MameWAH is the way I want to go. I'm just now trying to workout the bugs.
The learning curve is pretty sharp for me.
Helluvahlota reading.
