trackball question

(1/2) > >>

hnugz:
So I bought http://www.happcontrols.com/trackballs/565600xx.htm and it has these 2 green wires that are connected together by a copper ring, or something like that.

markrvp:
It's a ground wire that you can wire to the master earth ground for your cab.  I haven't connected mine to anything and haven't had a problem.

The mounting kit is the plate with the necessary screws to screw the trackball to the plate and the plate to the control panel top.

hnugz:
so in other words i need both the kit and the plate then?

SirPoonga:
Ther reason for the green goround wires is to dissipate static generates by running the tball.
As far as I know only happ has that and I haven't heard of any problems if you don't use it.

I vote the other way and highly suggest attaching these and all metal parts(spinner, etc) to ground like your computer chassis.  Especially if you live in a area that is dry, like around here in the winter.  It will help so that you don't have it give you a shock and reset the computer (which I've had happen) or damage it.
