Dynamo Panel - width difference

(1/2) > >>

I've got an old Dynamo cut-corner style cabinet, and bought a replacement control panel on eBay - SFII layout, guy even punched a seventh "Neo Geo" button for me no problem.

So I take it over to my cabinet, line up the hinge, and try to close the panel.... THUNK!  It hits the sides!  Damn thing looks like it's about 1/8" too wide!  I should just be able to grind it down or something, but does anyone know anything about the differences in widths in seemingly identical Dynamo cut-corner style control panels?  I thought these Dynamo cabinets were all identical.

(first image is the original panel, second is the replacement panel, please excuse the grainy cameraphone image)

Try sanding the sides a bit. On my arcade, it would rub sometimes so i just used sanding by hand and it made a difference. Mine had some rough edges along the sides. I have a similar set up.

Yeah, I figured I'd just try and grind the panel down a bit, it's about 1/8", so it's not all that big of a deal, was just a little surprised.  Thanks for the tip!

The wood on your cab likely shrunk.  I bet if you measure the width between the side panels front and back, you'll find it to be about 1/8th narrower in the front.
