Need(ed) help installing After Dark 3.2 Screensaver under WinXP (fixed)
Tiger-Heli:
I am trying to install After Dark 3.2 (Marbles, Flying Toasters Screensaver) on a WinXP computer.
Lots of information is available here, but I thought I would get a quicker answer here and then post the results there.
Anyway, I downloaded and installed AD 3.0 from this site and it installed fine within the limitations of the program (more below), but it gave me a nag screen about ADW30.386 not being loaded and the program not activating in full screen DOS sessions.
RayB:
WOW, they still make After Dark?!
No, wait, I just checked the site where you got 3.0 from and it says made in 1994. I would guess it just won't work in XP. It was made for Win 95 after all.

You need to read through my post again.
AD 2.0 (made for Windows 3.1) works in WinXP (with some glitches).
AD 3.0 (made for Windows 3.1) works in WinXP (with some glitches).
AD 4.x (made for Windows 95) works in WinXP (with fewer glitches).
AD3.2 (made for Windows 3.1) is an upgrade to AD 3.0 and won't install in WinXP (NT/2K?), even though it installs fine in Win98 (95/ME?)
I am trying to figure out how to get 3.2 to install, and if anyone wanted to create the program from scratch that would be WinXP (and faster hardware) compatible, that would be nice also.

Is there a file I could change so the upgrader program would think I am running Win98 instead of WinXP?

Yeah, actually I did that with all of these, worked for the other ones, but not that one. . .
