That's because if it's an American plane it's built by Boeing.  If it's not an American plane than it's built by some nationally-supported, left wing pinko commie consortium (Airbus, Embraer).

hehe. i only mentioned it because it was a goofy and crude propaganda tactic during the cold war to always mention where the plane was made if it wasnt american. of course if it was yet another united airlines plane falling out of the sky then it was reported pretty damn quietly
