Check out this ballsy ad Sony ran, in major magazines in Italy, no less. Somebody had to have lost their job for this.

The ad, which celebrates the tenth anniversary of the PlayStation console, depicts a grinning male gamer wearing a crown of thorns made out of the traditional PlayStation buttons (triangle, square, circle and X). The bottom of the ad reads "Dieci anni di passione," which in English means "Ten years of passion."

Yeah, I remember reading about this in the paper last week and Sony asked for fogiveness and pulled the ad. The Italians were furious with the ad ( as you can well imagine ). I'm sure you're right, someone ( or some people ) are definately toast in Sony's marketing group...

Feh, more like somebody got a promotion.

Ads like these are meant to create controversy and it obviously worked. They planned to have it "pulled" before it was ever printed.

You don't really think the target market demographic for Playstation products was phased in the slightest by this, do you?

I'm pretty sure I'm in that demographic and I'm phased not even a little bit. I think it's pretty funny, but not as funny as a fat chick with little boobs.
