The Arcade Photo Gallery
« on: September 21, 2005, 04:32:20 pm »
Arcades are getting so rare around my part of the world that I often take pictures when I find them.  I started to post some arcade pics in another thread when I suddently thought that this might make an interesting thread on its own.  Feel free to post pictures of arcades both current and vintage (that would be great!).

Please identify the location and status if you can.

I'll start with the pics that I posted in another thread...

What do you mean the "only classic is galaga"?  Track and Field, Asteriods, Centipede are not classics?  I wish too I had a selection of that multitude....

I think he meant here....
Anywho, I freaked out when I saw tapper. You don't really see those anywhere. I was thinking, man, I'd love to have it...

Then I remembered, I already have one. God, I love that game.

Well lucky you, a range of these kind of games in ONE arcade will be impossible to find here. In fact, you will be extremely lucky to find an "arcade" here at all. I only know a handful still in service today here in Holland. Good place to go especialy for pinball lovers: Slagharen (www.slagharen.org). They have three arcade halls, one has an incredible range of pinball tables. The were plenty of videogames too, but not real classics except for a couple of Outruns...stupidely I spent the little time I got there playing games instead of taking pictures ;)

But I like this thread, I'll make pics in future as much as possible.

Well, don't be so quick to congratulate.   :)  There are two things wrong with the pictures of the arcade classics line-up.

1) They are in New Hampshire and I live in Connecticut.  About 4.5 hours away.

2) Many of the machines were in rather poor shape... a few being downright unplayable.

And when I *did* hang out at that arcade when I was home from college in the summers (I lived in New Hapshire at the time), I spent my time playing Strider, Rolling Thunder, X-Men, and Mortal Kombat II.

The only place to find more than a few games around here in NJ is down the shore on the arcade boardwalks.  most of the old arcades that were worth going to are now long gone.

There are a few decent ones still around, but most of them cater to the Bemani or fighting game scenes.
