Paige has really dug himself into a pickle on this one, or was the correct term he put all his bacon in one basket?  ;)

I went to college for several years without owning a scooter, as did pretty much everyone I went to school with.  Can't say I ever saw a scooter at either Northeastern or UMass.

Yes, but I suspect that everyone had some kind of transportation.

At those particular schools, not owned by themselves.  Most folks at Northeastern used public transit since it was smack in the middle of Boston.  At UMass, there was a bus system provided to Amherst by UMass.  Anyone who didn't take the bus usually rode a bike.  Parking is a pain in the ass at UMass, plus we're talking college student without much cash in pocket.

Public transportation wasn't an option where I went to college.

Yeah, but having to sweep the dirt floors of your classrooms after that long carriage ride into town for *learnin'* wasn't exactly an option at that time either.

Carriage? I had to ride a rock to school, and it was uphill through deep snow in both directions.

School is for sissies.  Grab a pitchfork.
