Wiring a coin mech to a computer PSU

You could use some insulated disconeects like these that i used:-



Also, this site has some info on wiring the sentinal mech, including dip switch settings.

I used a molex hard drive cable. Plug into the PSU harness and then cut the connector off the other end. Extend the yellow and the black wire next to it (pin 1 and 2) to your destination and hook up with quick-disconnects as mentioned. Tape off, remove, or cap wires 3 and 4.

I do something like this but I cut all four wires and extend then to a wiring bus. Then, if i need  +12, +5 or Ground in the future, I just tap off of the bus. You can then use the quick disconnects between the bus and your application.

**WARNING**
Use a multimeter first to determine which wire is 12v. Not all manufacturers use the same color codes. Most do, but there ARE some that reverse it. Though I suppose it won't hurt anything if you accidentally apply 5v instead of 12....

I'm not sure it's a really spectacular idea for you to be poking around inside an arcade machine. If you see something that looks like a suction cup, don't touch.
