Mounting LCD monitors

(1/4) > >>

Jeehemdee:
I would like to place an LCD monitor into my cabinet...but was wondering how to mount it inside (with the base removed) securely?

Would you - guys with TFT/LCD monitors - have some tips and pictures;-) to help me do it nicely and securely?

Thanks very much!!

PS: did someone use the LCD VESA mounting system to mount it firmly inside?

rescue161:
It may be a little hard to see, mine is mounted on a 2X4 which is mounted to the sides of the cabinet with 4 L-brackets.

LCD in a cab ??

Only after the last tube on the planet has died !

I vote for people to be removed here if they play 80's arcade games on a LCD  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have no choice in the matter. My cab isn't deep enough to use a CRT. I planned on mounting mine to the bexel with metal straps

First of all if you want to put an LCD in your cabinet then go for it.  I agonized for months about what to put in mine.  Should I go with a real arcade monitor?  Should I go with a tv?  What about a pc monitor?  I went back and forth and finally decided to go with an LCD monitor and I'm extremely greatful that I did (I play many pc games, retro remakes, etc so I wanted the ability to display these games clearly).  I went with the Dell model that can be rotated between vert and horizontal.  As far a mounting system I guess it depends on your cabinet.  I built a frame for mine that just the visual display sticks through.  Smoked plexi rests on the outside portion of the frame so when playing all you see is the lighted portion of the monitor.  The smoked plexi makes it look like its floating in the cabinet. The monitor just stands on its original mount on a shelf that runs the length inside the cabinet.  I've attached some pictures.
