MAMEWAH error msg.
« on: August 02, 2005, 09:33:25 pm »
Please excuse me if this is a dumb question, but can anyone tell me what this error is from MAMEWAH?

Error: -2005401480 Automation error in SFX_InitialiseDS

I installed the system files from the mamewah website and directx 9c.

Thanks,
-Ash

This is a sound problem...almost certainly that your sound card drivers are not installed/current/DirectX compatible.

I spent all night last night fighting with XP because it wouldn't take drivers for my onboard audio.  I wound up putting in a sound card I had lying around.

I'll have to try it now that I have a sound card with working drivers.  Unfortunately, I have to wait till I get home...

I just wanted to add some closure to this.  I installed a different audio card with drivers that actually worked and MAMEWAH worked.  I then set up a my .ini files for my roms and MAMEWAH works beautifully!

Thanks for your help,
-Ash

In case anyone runs into this later, so they can search it out:

If you get these type of errors in loading MameWAH:

8/5/05 10:29:00 PM Error: 429 ActiveX component can't create object in SFX_InitialiseDS
8/5/05 10:29:00 PM Error: 429 ActiveX component can't create object in CTRLR_InitialiseDI
8/5/05 10:29:00 PM Error: 429 ActiveX component can't create object in SFX_InitialiseDS
8/5/05 10:29:06 PM Error: 429 ActiveX component can't create object in SFX_InitialiseDS

with Win98SE...you need to load DirectX 8.0 or better, like you were supposed to... ;)
