PC power switch wiring

(1/1)

Taborious:
I know this is very simple and is just the 2 wires from the jumper on the motherboard but my question is the type of switch. A rocker or toggle switch will make a psuedo permanent closed circuit, is that what I want? or just a pushbutton that closes the circuit and then opens it again? How does that work?

pocketpal:
Yeah, you just need a momentary contact to tell the system to come up.  Personally, I'm just using one of the same buttons as I have for my control panel, but many things would work.

quadmasta:
You can program it to do stuff in windows too.

Brewser:
I use the Bits Smart Surge Bar and wired in a standard arcade pushbutton on the back of my CP and to my PC. I can't say enough good things about the surge bar. This thing works great. Just power down the PC and it will turn off everything else. Awesome!!!!

Taborious:
Momentary, that's what I thought but I needed someone to give me the warm fuzzy before I did anything. Thanks...
