Will a USB mouse work in DOS MAME?

Yes, I know it's the bonehead question of the year, but I've never tried it. I'm thinking about adding trackballs or spinners to my new project, but I plan on running in DOS. I'd rather use USB since it's play-and play. I'm pretty sure it'll work, but I want to make sure.

(I'll be using the newest version of Free-DOS and probably something around MAME .37)

Thenasty:
if you find a USB Mouse Driver for PURE DOS, LMK. No one ever had come up with a mouse driver USB for DOS.

I don't think it gets more plug and play than a ps/2 mouse ;)

I realize that, but none of the solutions with built-in compatibility use PS2 except for the Imperial trackballs, but they're 3" and would be too big for my cocktail. In fact, I have a couple 3" PS2 Imperials. They're just too big.

I found some solutions that look like they'll work, but I'll have to test them out to be sure. For all I know, my motherboard legacy support might even include mice. I know it supports USB keyboards. *crosses fingers*
