Coin locks size?

<< < (2/2)

ericball:
Measure twice, buy once!

Take a bolt and thread a nut onto it almost all the way.  place the bolt through the hole so the bottom of the head is resting against the outside of the lock hole.  Take something flat and place it against the the spot where the cam would hit.  Now spin the nut until it hits the "cam".  Take out the bolt and measure from the bottom of the head to the bottom of the nut.

Note: you can buy offset cams (typically 1/4") to change a 5/8" lock into a 7/8" lock, or vice-versa.

The coin door from my Tempest is 5/8".

So these locks only come in different length's, not width's?

ericball:
3/4" diameter (not the flat, which is 0.635") is the most common, but there are larger & smaller locks available.
