Coin Door Adjustment

(1/2) > >>

commandcom:
Hi,

I've got these coin mechs that refuse to accept a US quarter.  I've attached a couple of images of one.

When a quarter is placed into the mech, it gets dumped immediately into the coin return.

I did some poking around the forums and it seems white nylon screw is how the mech is adjusted.  I tried setting this screw to many different positions, but to no avail.

Is there something else I'm missing?

Ken Layton:
That's a Coin Controls coin chute. Leave the white plastic screw alone. The only adjustments you need to be concerned with are that hex headed gold screw which adjusts how close-far away the magnet frame is to the main plate (coin thickness). There's also a "kicker" adjustment on the backside of the main plate. You didn't provide a picture of the back of this coin chute.

I did fiddle with the gold-colored screw.  With the screw turned all the way in, or out, the coin is still rejected.  What role does the cam-like device play?  It look like it should grab the coin and redirect into the "accepted" path.  With these doors, the coin never even touches teh cam.

I did not think there was anything worth looking at on the back.  Here's what it looks like.

if coin falls right thru that means that the coin cradle is to big for that coin. The coin cradle must swing along with the coin.

The lable on that says (I think) 25c but maybe someone change the coin cradle to accept bigger size coin than a quarter size.

If you can't find a fix, I have the exact replacements for quarter size. PM me if interested.

Ken Layton:
That white plastic screw sets the 'fine' coin diameter adjustment. It looks like the kicker on the backside is out of adjustment.

Sometimes these late model Coin Controls chutes develop a crack or break in the plastic hinge causing the gate to sag slightly. This causes jamming or rejecting. The only cure is to replace the entire plastic gate (which is not available anymore brand new).

Remember that the cradle must pivot quickly and easily. Never ever use WD-40 on these.
