Wine coolers, Barry Manilow, and soft lighting?

I say just take it down without worry.
Anything that brakes is probably be replaced anyway :)
but really... the dolly is a good investment... or rent one for 7 bucks from uhaul.
ChadTower:
Anyone with cabs should have a hand truck. $30 will save you endless problems.

Without a monitor in it, I had no issue tipping back my Konami TMNT cabinet (or bringing it back up). In fact, I loaded it and pulled it off of my truck all by myself. It's all in the approach. I also brought my PacMan on it's back (and back up) by myself to inspect the condition of the artwork at the feet.
First of all, keep that thing either above you or right in front of you. The further that thing gets out in front of you (such as when you step back), the worse leverage you get and the more chance you have of hurting your back. That brings me to another point. Use your arms and legs, not your back.
If you have a chunk of 2x4 or something to lay across the ground in front of you so you don't smash your fingers when you reach the ground, there shouldn't be alot of people that can't handle bringing most machines to their backs.
If you're prone to back injuries or seriously weak, don't try it. Otherwise, I think an average person could handle most situations just fine. Heck, I have back problems, but I never seem to hurt myself moving machines around. Maybe I should take my own advice, but I've done it and lived to tell.
What sort of cabinet are we talking about? What size monitor does it have?
