Druins Interface.. Pin 1 location???

<< < (2/4) > >>

Druin:
The most important thing is to confirm where your black ground wire is going on the board.  It should be on the right side when looking at the board connector from the edge, which I'm calling pin 1 based on my JST connector pin markings.
Does your connector have pin numbers written right on it?  Mine has all numbers 1 through 13 written on the top of it.

Yes, the black ground wire is going to the right side, actually the pins you have marked as number 1.  According to Floyd's website, pin number 13 should be the ground pin on your board, so someone is confused.  My 13 pin connector does have numbers 1 and 13 written on it, nothing in between.  Is that what you mean?  Also, the ground wire is crimped into number 13 on the connector, which is on the left side of the connector when viewed from the top (plastic covered) side.  Again, they are both flipped so I can see the ends of the metal crimps, or whatever they're called.

Hope it's not too confusing.

Cheers,
KenToad

Druin:
I updated the FAQ yet again with a new picture. How does this match up with your numbers and pin 1 vs pin 13?  The markings of pin numbers on my JST connector follow this picture.  Is yours the same?

KenToad:
If that is the plastic covered side, then yes.  Isn't pin 13 the ground?  Don't you flip it over to get it to be on the right side?

Druin:
That's the plastic hood on top, so it seems like we're ok with the pin numbers, but in that picture ground is the right!  On the rotary board the ground pin is the one with the fat track coming out of it on the circuit so you can't miss it there either.  On the board in the picture, Joystick 1 is on the right of the picture, and the 5v/ground screw terminals are on the top of the picture.  You can see a fat track on the board going from joystick 1 to the screw terminals.  That's the ground pin on the joystick.
