Anyone know why these analog joysticks have been showing up on e-bay so much lately?  Do they work with Mame?

Thanks...

JODY:
I haven't seen that particular one on Ebay much lately.  Yes, you can use it with Mame.  Just need an interface board such as an A Pac or Dave's AKI board.  Could also hack your own using the right kind of USB controller such as what is commonly used to hack Star Wars controllers or T2 guns.

At my local arcade there is a Sega F18 fighter simulator that uses this stick.  I think this is also the stick in the Star Wars Trilogy arcade game.  It didn't seem like anything special.

Would there be any advantage to using one of these over a regular analog PC Flightstick (other than it is easier to mount in a CP)?

JODY:
Depending on the PC stick you'd be comparing it with, the Happ stick would be heavier duty with steel shaft built for an arcade environment.  I've heard of several people using PC sticks and breaking them because they couldn't handle the stress.  Also the feel of the stick should be compared.  I've got a couple of cheap Saitek's and while they work they just don't have a great feel.

CheffoJeffo:
Just for clarity, the auction (isn't mine) is for the PC VERSION of the Happs Analog Stick.

It comes with a gameport adapter and 100K pots.

No additional board needed

Cheers
