Tech questions for japanese cab owners *UPDATED*
stellarola:
Hey guys, I just took some nyquil, so this might not make much sense, but here I go...
I got a chance to buy a Super Neo 29 Candy cabinet. The guy selling them said that these cabinets are Jamma based and that I should just hook up a J-Pac and go from there. Well I have a 2-player X-arcade stick I gutted and used the encoder in my dynamo cabinet. I was wondering if this would be a problem to just get rid of the jamma harness in the Neo 29 candy and plug in my X-arcade encoder. I wondering would this hinder getting power to the speakers, monitor and lights because I'm taking out the jamma harness? I'm not really sure how all this works, so any help would be appreciated. I just kinda need "know how" guide. Sorry like I said Nyquil...I'm trying to proof read, but this is like straight up alcohol.
Thanks,
-Ben

Trying to use your X-Arcade encoder is going to be more trouble than it is worth, buy a J-Pac. It will be easier, and won't require you to mess up a high dollar machine in order to use it.
You are going to make a lot of work for yourself, devalue and defunctionalize your machine all to try and save $50.

Well I have a good setup. I have a dreamcast adapter for the X-arcade. So what I do is, I have a serial switch box, which is easily lets me select my controls between Mame PC and Dreamcast with literally a flip of a switch. Also I have a VGA switch box, which lets me do the same for video.

I gotta agree with paigeoliver. As soon as I picked up my Windy the first thing I did was order a J-PAC. Save for having to wire directly into the speakers through a hacked pair of Altec-Lansing, it has taken care of everything.
When everything is finished setting up next week, I'll hack a VGA box for my DC and go the molex connector route for the controls.

Well, how do u split the video up...I mean like between the Dreamcast and MamePC running the arcadevga?
