LCD monitor in mame cabinet

<< < (3/8) > >>

Samstag:
All the LCD's I've looked at recently had pretty good side-viewing angles but get bad very quickly when they're not very close to level in relation to your eyes.  Your best bet in a cocktail would be a vertical orientation so both players (assuming one on each end).  If it's a side-by-side cocktail you could either go vertical or angle it toward the playing side.

Make sure you try a mockup to test angles out before you design and build.

SideShow Rob:
I've been using a 17" LCD for MAME purposes for a little while now.

It's a very basic Acer 1714 panel with a 14ms response time, and a 1280x1024 native resolution.

I use the following lines in my Mame.ini file:

I know it is not arcade authentic...but for me, it works out very well - I run Windows XP in 1280x1024 @60Hz, and run MameWah with a 1280x1024 @60Hz skin...I don't have to make any monitor adjustments at all.

It will be the perfect solution for my bartop cabinet that I am planning to build. The viewing angles, in both the horizontal and vertical planes, aren't too bad - but as recommended previously...if you are planning on using it in a cocktail cabinet...check the angles before construction, to avoid possible disappointment later on.
