2 monitors same bad image
« on: March 12, 2005, 05:45:04 pm »
is it possible , that either the game board or the wireing loom could cause a poor smuged effect image.

I saw the second monitor working before it was removed from the doner cab and the image was nice and crisp.

Thanks

Dave

So this is a two monitor cabinet like a Playchoice 10?

What is the machine and what brand/model are the monitors in question? Were they both installed at the same time or one at a time?

Ken sorry, no I replaced the monitor due to the eht blowing, when I re capped it for this fault.

I have taken a working monitor, from another cabinet, and fitted it to mine,

I still get a smudgeing of words and see diaganol Lines (raster lines?) down the screen

could it be the loom, psu or something else.

I will try to take a picture later today.

Thanks

Dave

Hmmm....looks like you may have a gameboard problem with either a bad character rom/prom chip or video ram chip. If the same problem exists with two different monitors then you would have a gameboard problem. It does not appear to be power supply or wiring problems.

Update.

I am still waiting to get back to the monitor supplier. But have done some web surfing and found an article about Jamma to scart, so I went into my trusty cables box dug out an old ps2/dreamcast scart lead, Chooped it up and hey presto I have a jamma to Scart cable, Stole my daughters 14" scart TV, plugged it all in and guess what , I have a picture with a blurred effect,

Turned brightness and contrast down as far as they would go and its now readable but not good, in test mode the image is still smudged etc.

From this I am concluding the jamma board is outputting a too strong video signal.  Is this common?

thanks again for your replies

It is the board,

But he changed the display for a better one anyway, nice guy, also loaned me some jamma boards to use till I can find some of my own.

Soul edge system 11 jamma board , repairable?
