USB power while PC is off
bioart:
Hi all,
My trackball is light from underneath with an LED powered by USB. The problem is that when the machine turns off, power is still going to the USB ports (happens when the machine goes to hybernate on its own). I've tried two different machines, and the behaviour is the same... anyone run into this? I want the artcade to turn off when not in use, and that should include the LEDs :)
Thanks!

You could always power the LED from a different source. You use the computer's power LED.

Is there something in the BIOS that decides whether to power USB or not...because Im pretty sure there is. Look around in there.

there's no obvious option I can see... I'll look again and look for something else... I suspect it may be the standby settings (wake up on something and so on...)

From my experience, If it is possible there's a setting in the BIOS that allows USB to turn the system on via standby, but there is a jumper on the motherboard that actually controls the Voltage going to the USB ports while the system is off. Post the motherboard model number and we can probably tell you where the jumper is or if it is possible.
Also, unless it's an LED made to be operated off the USB port I highly suggest not powering the LED or anything else off of the USB ports. It would be better to power it via the power supply.
