When done with my mame cab, I was thinking about maybe trying to build a dedicated cabinet of a game, maybe something newer like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, SVC Chaos, or Soul Calibur, or a virtua fighter.

Now heres what I know, you need the controls, jamma pcb, jamma harness ( not sure what kind ) monitor, coindoor, some kind of power supply (dont know much about it). Can someone give me an idea on all the parts I would need, then maybe some references where I can learn about it more, and websites where you can buy the products. Thanks.

You can buy a complete working Soul Calibur game at auction for about $350.

Buying the individual parts would probably cost twice that.

Then you'd still have to build a cabinet.

The materials for the cabinet could run you a few hundred after you pay for paint, t-moulding, a bezel, monitor glass, control panel overlay and/or plexi.

This also assumes you have all the tools necessary... circular saw, jigsaw, router, drill, etc.

If it was me, I'd just buy a game at auction.

This whole thing would be different if you were talking about an older game that doesn't show up at an auction often or sells for a lot of money, but the games you mention show up all the time.

For reference, you can find some auction results here...

The paint/wood/tools ect ( all aspects on the cabinet) aren't a problem, just mainly looking for information on the electronic part of it. Thanks.

You need:

1. A switching power supply
2. MAYBE an isolation transformer
3. An AC line filter
4. power switch
5. A JAMMA harness
6. Marquee lighting
7. 2 speakers
8. a monitor
9. Monitor glass
10. Monitor bezel
11. Control panel (wood or metal?)
12. Control panel clasps
13. Coin door
14. Coin door mechs
15. Power cord
16. Various guage wiring

I think that's it not counting bolts, screws, wood...
