Artwork Ethics Request
« on: January 10, 2005, 05:10:07 pm »
Hi all,

While I support the existence of and the energy behind the localarcade art site, I wish people would respect one another.  Just because you find something out there does not mean it's fair game to upload to that site without first contacting the original owner and asking his/her permission.   Someone swiped my Guzzler overlay from my site that I give away freely and upped it to localarcade.. It is custom stuff, and granted nothing special. but it's the principle.. The artwork is mine, not Localarcade or anyone elses.  Don't just take things that are not yours without asking.

I have tried to contact the owner of local arcade and gotten no response, so I'll ask publicly here that either my file be removed from the site or proper permission be requested.   Over time I've provided dozens of restoration tips, tricks, art, reproduction efforts etc. free for the gaming community.. it hurts a bit to be abused :(

Thanks for the attention.

really annoys me this, people just dont think that it matters that you spent ages designing things, people should allways ask first. i agree

Sorry, I did not recieve any email. If I had recieved your request, I would have immediately taken it down. I'll have to look into the missing email.

At any rate, it has now been removed.

My policy is to always take down art by request of the owner immediately, no questions asked.

Mahuti, you are absolutely a stand up individual and a talented artist.   I hope nobody takes my words as a personal stab at anyone that has anything to do with the localarcade site.  It is merely an eye opener to remind people that if you didn't make it or don't own it, don't take it and give it to someone else as if it's yours to do with what you please.   A simple matter of respect really.   Thanks to Rav too, a long time great contributor to the hobby who also has my utmost respect.

Edit: incidentally, I uploaded my Pole Pos wheel centre effort yesterday.  I did it in a bit of a hurry, and it was stupid of me but I didn't realise you had to register to get your name next to it (duh I know).

register, and I'll activate your account and give you the credit.
I'm on the planning stage

Well...since you said 'if we asked...' may we please host your artwork on the site?   ;D
