confusing about making pc to jamma arcade..
alundra:
i started reading about this for the past few days, and there are something that i didnt understand enough and kind of confusing, hopefully some here can clear this up for me..
first, is the Jamma harnest, Jamma edge connector and fingerboard are the same?
second, every guide i have read, it said connect all the controls, speaker, and monitor to the fingerboard, but then where the fingerboard need to be connected to..is it Jamma PCB that the fingerboard need to be connect to? , ive try to search for the motherboard but all i found are the Jamma game boards(like pacman, galaga.ect..).. where i can buy this..thanks
krick:
Generally, you hook your joysticks and buttons, speaker (mono), coin switches, power, etc... to the JAMMA wiring harness.
All the wires in the harness end at one big wide 56 pin connector (28 on each side) called (not suprisingly) a JAMMA connector.

im still confusing..what about the fingerboard for? the fingerboard and the JAMMa harness looks pretty the same..and why most guide ive read said the fingerboard was require instead of the harness..?
fingerboard
Jamma harness
and about the "real arcade game board"..so this is the common board on all the jamma cabinet? i want to know where to buy this thing...thanks
krick:
The picture you posted of a "fingerboard" actually shows the fingerboard plugged into a JAMMA harness.
A fingerboard is just a small piece of circuit board with conductors in the right spot to mate with a JAMMA harness.

thanks..but more confusing...you said the fingerboard i posted was already plug into the jamma harness...but how come its cheapper than the Jamma harness alone..should it be more expensive than the Jamma harness because it has the fingerboard connected to it..
if i want to play all the mame and emulator games, then that mean i have to use the fingerboard? and i have to solder all the controlls and buttons input to that exposed pins on the other side of the fingerboard right?
and about the board, so i can buy any jamma game board to use it on my cabinet..and just plug the end of the harness connector into the edge of the board then i can play all the mame and emulator i want..?thanks
