Supergun Controls
Led Zeppelin Rock:
Howdy all
I have a Supergun, and even though it has a converted Dreamcast big stick I was interested in making my own with real arcade joysticks and buttons, I have got hold of the 15pin connectors but can I just wire directly to the buttons and pad or am I kidding myself to how simple this could be. The supergun as a Raven Games one...

One of them...
Any help or pointers would be splendid.
Thanks

superguns are very easy to build most especially so using a labelled jamma harness--just wire the inputs as they are labelled--connect a arcade power supply, a dinky speaker and some kind of video output and you are good to go--I'll post a pic of mine a little later.

Yer, I already have this supergun, but I just wanted to make a new joystick, and was more wondering if I can just wire the buttons directly to the 15 socket or if there was more to it than that.

think you will find each button/joystick switch in your exising controller will be simply wired to a pin on the connector.
the connector will also have a pin with electical Ground GND from the supergun. this Gnd connection will also be wired to each button.
when you press a button/move joystick the activate switch simply makes a circuit connection between the GND pin and the pin representing the button.
it should be easy to make you own custom control panel with 8way arcade joystick and buttons just a matter of figuring out which pins on the connector represent which buttons/switches and wiring up new microswitches in similar way to existing controller so when activated the corresponding pin is connected to GND.

Ahh OK great.
You talk about the 8 way stick, that brings up another question. I only use my supergun for Neo-Geo currenlty, is it a 8 way I would need for that or a 4, and how would using one over the other effect other Jamma games????
Thanks
