Rom Resolution Question
« on: December 15, 2004, 09:55:27 am »
By the way thanks Minwah.  The fine adjusting of the Vhold worked almost perfectly.  So my issue is I have a few roms left in particular choice-10 roms and tempest that no matter how hard I try with the Vhold they just do not want to stop rolling.  So I thought I would try to change the resolution of those roms.  I created .INI files and changed the resolution to 640x288(This is what I am running Mamewah at).  It didnt do a thing.  I am guessing either that is not how you change the resolution of a rom or I needed to do something else.  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Minwah

The Playchoice-10 games are wierd in that MAME displays the 2 separate screens the actual arcade machine would have had, on your 1 monitor.  Because of this frankly my recommendation is to not play these games at all.

If you like some of the games, use a NES emulator...

I kind of figured the Choice 10 games would be strange because of the split screen.   So I will look into an Snes emulator for those thanks.

As for other normal games that still flip.  Is just changing the resolution within the ganename.ini file sufficient to change the resolution of that game or does more need to be done?
Thanks

There's a couple of other commands:

These are my settings to run at 800x600 on a PC monitor:

waitvsync               0
triplebuffer            0
window                 0
ddraw                   1
direct3d                0
hwstretch             1
cleanstretch         auto
resolution            800x600
zoom                    2
switchres               1
switchbpp               1
maximize                1
keepaspect              1
matchrefresh            0
syncrefresh             0
screen_aspect           4:3

You might need to change some of these settings.

That's all you need to do, just make sure you pick a resolution with enough lines / rows to display the game fully.

Thanks.  Still having issues with Tempest flipping.  If I adjust the hold the game looks great.  It is just a matter of picking the right resolution.  Eventually I will get it.  Appreciate the info.

Make an ini file for your vector games - vector.ini, and set the resolution to whatever you want.  I use 640x480 -hwstretch.
