Question about Jamma cabinet
LsLSpamMatt:
Hey guys,
I have a Jamma cabinet with V'Ball in it, and am in the process of acquiring another Jamma game. The monitor in the cabinet is a little sketchy (I'm trying to get a cap kit installed), and I'm not sure what to do. I've looked through the archives, but can't find an answer to this question:
Can I play Jamma games on a TV if I buy a JPAC? Is there any way? I'm really pretty lost on this concept.
I've read up on the "Superguns" or whatever they're called.
If anyone can tell me what routes I have, I would appreciate it.
Matt
Witchboard:
You have it backwards. A JPAC is for hooking up a computer to a JAMMA harness with an arcade monitor. I think what you're wanting is a... JROK? I can't remember th name. I would just cap your arcade monitor and be happy with it. A capkit is around $5 and the adapter you'll have to buy for a TV costs around $100 and it won't look as good. Plus you'll have to buy a TV if you don't already have one and blah, blah, blah. I think you get the picture.

Witchboard,
Indeed I do get the picture. I just wish I could convince a TV guy around here to cap my stupid monitor. They all seem to have excuses centered around "not wanting to do it". I'd also love to play my V'ball game, but Ken Layton seems to think playing it without a fresh cap kit will end up with the monitor essentially blowing up.
Cap Kit, here I come.
Thanks.
Witchboard:
It's pretty simple to do a cap kit. When you do the first one just make sure somebody else is there while you do it. They can help you track down the capacitors on the board since you'll be hunting for about 20. Also hit the Monitor/Video forum and look for tips on discharging your tube and how to do cap kits. You can also head over to the KLOV forums, there's typically a thread on doing a cap kit every two days or so. ;D
LsLSpamMatt:
Yeah, I felt bad even asking about the jamma stuff, because I know video questions get asked a lot. At least it wasn't "should I use a TV, monitor or computer monitor?" right?
;D
and as far as doing it myself goes.. hahahahah you are funny funny man.
I'll gladly wire my own CP and build the box and yada yada, but I can't solder.
Matt
