Physically installing PC into cabinet
holdennut:
There is no need to earth your motherboard. Just mount it to the MDF with those PCB feet and it'll work fine.

I've used velcro to hold a hard drive directly on the side of a case before, really didn't have any issues with it falling off or gooing up. Although I was also using a 2.5 inch drive and some industrial strength velcro.

I belive the motherboard is grounded from the power supply. Which in turn is grounded to the outlet in you house. Which is grounded to the ground somewhere around the circuit breaker( or i could be horribly wrong.) NEwayz think about it does a metal part of your case actually touch the ground?

yes, for the very reason you just explained!! through the earth wire it does actually connect to the ground.
but im still not sure that the motherboard itself is grounded (but there i could be wrong) as it is only low voltage.

I drilled two-holes through the board on each side of where I wanted to mount my drive and used some zip-strips to snug it down.

It won't be a problem for me. The MB will be installed vertically on the back of a panel inside the cab. But the drives will be sat on the top of another panel just inches away over the 90 degree corner. The velcro will just hold them in position flat to the board. They won't be hanging from a side panel or anything like that.
