(1/1)

Will:
Title says it all im in the painting stage and have done one layer of primer.Do i need to sand between every layer and how many layers is good for primer and paint?Im using latex based primer and paint. Thanks in advance...

neuromancer:
If you have good quality paint and primer, and a well prepaired surface, and good rollers or brushes, then you can use one coat of each.

I usually opt to put one primer, and then two thin coats of paint though. I don't sand between usually.

This has been discussed a number of times in last couple months with a several alternatives described.

The way I handled it (assuming you used MDF or quality ply), is one coat of Kilz, followed by three or four coats of good quality paint, applied with a roller.  I did not sand between as I prefer the nice eggshell texture.  Let the paint dry between coats.

I would recomend two coats of primer (three if your wood is porus). And two coats of paint if you don't  sand, 3 or 4 if you do sand.
