People using 3darcade attract mode videos
« on: November 13, 2004, 03:41:53 pm »
I just realised there is a movie in there for the Sega laserdisk game Starblazer, called blazer.avi...

AFAIK it is not emulated by mame (I think Daphne emulates it), but there is a Namco game called Blazer in mame...so basically the video that shows for that game is wrong.

Just thought I'd mention it as a fair few people use these videos now...

also there is a laser disc game called badlands in which a video is available as well as cobra command.  It's actually quite common for laserdisc games of that era to have an accompanying raster game.  Cliffe hanger was originally ment to be called Lupin III  (read Lupin the third) just like the raster game counterpart.

The solution is an easy one.... keep video files for different emulators in different folders.  Whoever is making the packs atm should realize this.

Also as a backup Dk only looks for videos in the same base directory that it found the snapshot.  (c:\mame\ or c:\daphne\ or whatever).  That way it makes it quite hard to play the wrong video.

Sure...I just thought the 3darcade videos were all for mame - to take one of your examples badlands.avi is for the Atari Sprint-style one.

I also assumed that they were for MAME and hadn't noticed any of the bad ones either.

Agreed... I was siding with you, you just read it wrong.  :)  There's no excuse for the pack creators stuffing all of the files in one pack.  I'm hoping it's unintentional.  also, for the record, low-res versions of all the laserdisc attract modes can be found at the d-l-p.com anyway, so there is no need to inclue them.

I think it was probably just a mistake, I haven't noticed any others...

Cool about the laserdisc movie downloads...but then I don't use Daphne anyway :)
