I'm keen to use a bezel and a tinted screen of plexiglass(lexan equivalent?)/glass. Only issue with glass is possibillity of breakage, and weight. Tracking down online suppliers of plexi who actually shows pics and prices in the UK seems nigh on impossible.... Anyone here have any joy?

Um, glass and plexiglass aren't something you buy ONLINE. They are like lumber or meat. There will be 100 sources in the phonebook, just start calling the glass places.
Get real glass, not plexi. You'll thank me later.

Here is my home made bezel, which hides the TV well and looks pretty neat. I basically built a frame out of pine moulding, then laminated the top of it, and covered the visible inside edges with electrical tape. The result turned out great, and with some smoked plexi covering it it should do wonders to clean up that TV. Here are some pics.
Here is the frame on the back side.
This is the front part.
One more picture of the front.
Let me know if you need any more help.

Good idea, although I like tinted. Tinting probably wouldn't hide the TV case altogether...

Yeah I noticed this too. Although my tinted glass (Grey, like Minwah's) does darken things significantly, it still does not obscure things completely and you can see your TV case etc...although things are a lot better and it's not blatantly obvious. I'm still gonna have to make a damn bezel though....ARRGGHH! Wish I could just get hold of one suitable for my TV. Oh well...

Hmm ok looks like glass (tinted) is the way to go then. I always figured I would have to have some kind of bezel - even if its just black cardboard hiding the monitor edges.
I'm after tinted cover as 1) I've seen the effect on how things look on oscars site and 2) I've seen it really help the illusion when running vertical games on a horizontal monitor - stops you thinking "Why isn't it using all the screen?"
Question: is "smoked" always brown and "tinted" always grey?
