Is this guy a con-man
drumnow:
I have been looking for mame cabinets for a while after I read the project arcade book. I was looking on google and I found this guy named Jim. He is in Buffalo Grove IL.He builds arcade cabinets, he said cabinets on the internet. He said that he could offer me cheap prices and great products, he even said he could beat. He also lives really close to me.He also said he has over a hundred arcade games. I am not sure I can trust this guy. Do you know him, if so is he realiable, or a con man. If you do not know him can you recomend what I should do. Thanks alot.

Umm... How would we know? If he's close, go there. See before you buy. Can't really help you beyond that.

I'd see if he'll let you come over, and see some of his work.
If he won't, say goodbye.
See what he'll offer you, and at what price, and go from there.
One caution I would give you is to not impulse buy.
I'd also be leary of anyone who demands money up front.
I'd be willing to pay for the actual parts going into the CP after seeing the cab at a decent stage of completion.
That will make it so that YOU have the receipt for the parts in your name.
I'd make him sign a delivery notice when I gave him the parts, that has a space for a second signing for delivery of the cab to you.
That way, if you do have to sue him for the money, he can't produce a fake receipt saying he gave them back.
If he tries that, you can counter with "why would I have signed THAT receipt instead of the 'got it back' part of my ORIGINAL receipt?".

I'll make you one with as many games as you want ;D wait how cheap is he talking ???But it's always fun to make it yourself. And if you have a problem that's what the forum is for ;D

Pretty silly question. Is YOUR name Jim maybe?
Check out the goods. Otherwise you haven't even mentioned ONE thing to us that makes the guy seem suspicious...
