Konami 4-player cabs (TMNT, Simpsons, Sunset Riders, X-Men, etc)

paigeoliver:
I just picked up a 4 player Konami cabinet (TMNT, painted black, converted to Neo Geo).

This is going to be my horizontal Mame cabinet (I actually don't own a horizontal mame cabinet, although I have built plenty of them for other people.

Who here has used that cabinet? Any links to your pages about that cabinet? Your control panel layouts for that cabinet.

I will be using an Athlon 1200, Jpac and the new version of arcadevga.

I have the following controls available.

8-way sticks
4-way sticks
top fire sticks
spinner
3" trackball

I don't  want a 4-player layout, as it just wouldn't get used enough.

I have an Xmen cab right now that will be my MAME machine, but it isn't complete so unfortunately I probably won't be much help to you.  The CP is a great size though, I'm planning a 2p setup with trackball and spinner in the center.  I might throw a 4way next to the 2p 8way as well.

Sorry I can't be more help, but good grab on the cab.  I really think it'll make a great MAME machine.  Now I just need to find a nice cab for a classic vertical machine heh.....

EDIT: one other thing, I found myself really tempted to throw a ton of controls on there, like dual joys for both players, maybe a top fire on one of em, etc etc... it just seems like such a big panel that it can turn into a frankenpanel really quick.  I've seen a bunch of your layouts before and am pretty sure you can control yourself heh, but just wanted to mention it.  I printed out some full size templates for ideas, and simpler really looks better.  Of course, you seem to feel the same way, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Yeah, I did a buy it now on ebay. I had planned on grabbing a 4 player or deluxe 2 player cab at the st. louis auction saturday, but the selection of them was small and the pricing not too hot either. Plus I really wanted this "Pro Tennis" (Pong) game, and didn't want to make 2 trips home.

So, I searched ebay, saw a $400 local buy it now on a "Dedicated Neo Geo" and noticed that it was a 4 player Konami cab, then noticed it came with 8 Neo carts too, so I did the buy it now.

The good news.

It also had a TMNT board and pretty much the complete TMNT harness inside. Thought I was pulling ONE hundred dollar board out of the cab, instead it was two.

Everything works on the cabinet.

It has TMNT sideart under the paint.

THE BAD NEWS

My truck broke down on the way home with it. Worst time to have a breakdown is when you have a $400 cabinet in the back of your truck, the cab is made of particle board, and it is supposed to rain last night. I finally managed to get someone to tow me home with a tow strap after a couple hours.

The TMNT sideart is unsalvagable, as it is faded to shades of blue and white (or the paint over it did that too it).

It needs a complete cosmetic overhaul. It was painted black with a spray can (which looks REAL BAD on a cab). The control panel is a Turtles in Time panel with the holes filled, painted black with much of the black paint rubbed off, with a way too small neo geo overlay in the middle.

Evil Otto:
Hello,

I have a working TMNT 4-player Konami cab.  I think everything is still original and complete.  It is just sitting in my basement.  I planned on using it for Mame, but I haven't touched it yet.  If you need any info on the original cab, I will try and assist.  Feel free to email or whatever.

Good luck

Paige,

I have a former Konami Main Event cab that has been converted to MAME.  Not sure if it's the same size as the TMNT cab.  Looks about the same on KLOV though.  I can post pictures if you would like.
