painting the inside of cabinet

Some don't :)
It all depends on if you are in a regularly humid environment or not.

I used primer on the inside of the cabinet to seal the wood. I did not paint the inside, because paint is somewhat expensive while primer is dirt cheap so the less surface area you need to paint the better. I did 2 coats of primer on both the inside and outside of my cab.

I would always paint all exposed wood (esp. MDF / chipboard). Better safe than sorry in my book. I'd recommend a topcoat over primer too, in case anything ever gets spilled on it (primer will soak it up).
