Not that it really matters, but in an attempt to get this thread back on track, it sounds like MameWah is the preferred frontend.  I recall someone else mentioning ArcadeOS.  Are there any strong arguemnts either way on these two, or does it really come down to personal preference?

I've been using Mame32, mainly because it was easy to set up, but now that I'm starting to build a cab with real controls, I'm looking for alternatives.  To me, running Mame32 isn't really practical in that situation.

I assume these discussions can quickly turn into the classic PC/Mac holy wars, but I am kind of looking for other's experiences (or should I just mention Hitler and end the thread right now?)  ;)

Pop-ups?

"The" ParticL is using IE?

try Zophar's domain on a real browser, like FireFox, and you'll forget the web even has pop-ups (I forgot until I read your post)

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

(only 4.7MB)

It's free, dosen't mess with your IE, and 9 out of 10 Helens prefer it*.

Groovy?

His site is always up-to-the-minute

Those damn pop-ups are a nuisance though. Mameworld gives a lot of links to frontends too and is less "shittier".

Use ArcadeOS if you're planning on using DOS.  I use MAMEWAH .97 and it fits my needs perfectly.  Since you used MAME32 I'll assume you're going to be using Windows.  If that's the case then go with MAMEWAH.

If I change the skin, I have problems with the writing, it is always too big(72).
If I correct that in the settings and put the writing to size 10 and I try to start it, it gives me an error =(
Any way of correcting that problem or do u have a waterproof solution?
thanx a lot !!!
MameWah would then be definatly also my choice!

Not being funny but where are you from?  Some regional settings can cause MAMEWAH problems (esp. with layouts).  Make sure your Decimal Symbol is set to '.' and not ',' for starters (many European countries use ',').

First thanx for ur answer!
I come from Germany and yes, we have that "," instead of the "."
Do I have to change my countrie setting to change that or where can i change that?
I guess that this could be the problem...
Thanx again!

shadowdrak:
There should be a item in control panel called regional settings or language settings.  You can use that to change your decimal and thousands separators.  Might be called something different depending on your windows version, but it will be in control panel.
