How much power do you need?

Gunstar Hero:
I'm using MAME .83, none of that MAME32 for me thank-you-very-much (says the underinformed noob.) Guess I shoulda mentioned that. =)

As for the playing of Blitz on a DC/PS2/console, sure I could do that, but I built the damn arcade machine for a reason! And that reason... is NBA Jam!! I mean... well... I do like NBA Jam.... mmmmmm.... jam.... uhm... I mean, I just think it's gonna be cool to be able to throw down some Blitz with my buddies on the MAME machine, ya know? Super High Impact just doesn't quite do the trick... and Tecmo Bow is too small since it's thatgot the double wide screen going on.

So for now, we play alot of NBA Jam.

And I have a real weakness for Shinobi. =)

And... well... LOTS of games. Not that it really matters.

I just wanna make sure I have my MAME set up right. In my mind, the better the games play, the better I did.

Now I just wait for the emulation to catch on up I guess.

And tweak tweak tweak that config file!

Tumor-Man:
You may be right. I don't know enough about the command line MAME to know for sure, but all I know is I used to use DOS MAME back in the day and there was none of this "aperture grill" effects, etc (the only effect back then was a simple scanline mode). Then I got into MAME32 years later and here they had all this resource-heavy effects to mimic the look of an arcade monitor. I assumed they were MAME32 specific...

So to reiterate what I meant in a more useful way: Turn off anything and everything that adds effects to the game's graphics. Set it so it uses a low native resolution and no special effects. Eventually you should get a much better frame-rate.
