Is an older version of windows the way to go?
Edgedamage:
If using WIN98. Use this method and you will never have to use the cd when you install new hardware.

I liked Win95 SR2. I tried several Win98 flavors after that and have had nothing but trouble with them. I switched to NT (now W2k and XP) and I really like the way that OS familly is much more stable. If you have a reasonably new PC I'd suggest you go for a new OS like W2K or XP. For an older PC indeed the mentioned older versions will probably be better (they don't have the power to run these newer OS versions adequately)

If you haven't tried it already, you may be able to run the games on WinXP, but in Win98 mode. Right-click the executable and choose "Run in mode" or something like that, and choose a different OS version. It just may work, and you won't have to reload your system.
