Refreshing Games list in Mamewah
« on: August 04, 2004, 04:50:22 pm »
I'm having a few probs getting the game list up in Mamewah. I can get to the point where I refresh the list .. a message box comes up, "refreshing game list" (or something similar) .. it stays for about half a minute, then disappears and the original screen with 'No games' at the bottom stays. Does this take a long time, and I'm being impatient .. or should it indicate that the games list is building? My PC just seems to stop doing anything. I'm sure the path is right to Mame and the path to the roms.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Tony

PS Im using binary files of command line version .. not Mame32.

ive had some similar problems but got it all working sweetly now  :D

under emulator settings, look for list generation settings. set this to
rom folder only.

then refresh the list..
this will ONLY give you the names of your .zip files.

If you want (and im sure you will) the full names and details of the games you need to goto the command prompt or dos and navigate to your mame folder and enter -

mame -listxml|xml2info > mame.dat

This will create a .dat file within your mame folder.

now go back to mamewah and change the list generation settings to

romvsdatfile

and refreshyour game list

hope that helps  ;)

Hey man .. thanks for the swift reply! :)

I'm off to try now (switching between two PCs, with one power supply / keybd / mouse!)

Thanks again

Okay .. heres the settings:

;LIST GENERATION SETTINGS
ROM Path =
ROM Extension = ZIP
List Generation Method = 3

I'm not sure where I'm putting 'rom folders only'?

Maybe I'm having trouble as I'm using the setup help for older versions of Mamewah .. there are actually extra settings in the cfg file in the latest version.

If you use the built-in menu in MAMEWAH (hit '2'), then go into Emulator Settings > List Generation Settings, select 'List Generation Method', and hit '1' then it will cycle through the available methods.

FYI 'ROM Folder Only' is '0' in the CFG file...
