plexi or no plexi

(1/2) > >>

Nefesis:
i did a search and couldn't find much, although i'm pretty sure this has been posted before. should i go with plexi on my cp or not? i'm not planning on having a cpo, although i might make one if i do go plexi, and i don't expect people playing really rough. however, everything that we don't exspect pretty much happens, so i don't know. if anyone knows a link to another thread where this was discussed, or has any comments, please post them.
thanks!

Trimoor:
I prefer it, just cause it looks good and I like playing with it. (and I can get it really cheap: $0.75 for a 8x24 piece)

I you do use plex, I reccomend engraving something into the underside, then lighting it up,

mahuti:
No plexi.

Converted machines used plexi... the originals had silkscreened vinyl. Companies like classicarcadegraphics.com and mamemarquees.com both print these typs of CPOs.

You can check out my machine at the link below to see what a CP looks like without Plexi.

Both have pros and cons. I like the feel of vinyl, not the smoothness of plexi.

paigeoliver:
I also say no plexi. I take the plexi off every machine I get that has it, which is hardly any, since I rarely buy non-dedicated machines and dedicated ones don't have plexi.

The plexi is not there to protect the art in most cases, it is there to keep you from sticking your finger in all the old holes from previous conversions.

Nefesis:
i think i'll be going no-plexi for the time being. if i don't like the feel, i'll just get a piece of it and do a thiner cp. thanks for all the input!
