Need suggestions for button wiring
(1/1)
PedroSilva:
I'm starting the wiring and I came up with some doubts:
First:
I have nine emulation buttons:
1 for pause
2 for Coin 1 and 2 (even having a coin door that will be wired)
How do you suggest that I use the remaining 6 ?
TAB
ESC
ENTER
?
?
?
Second:
From what I've seen so far, there's only 4 programable keys that I can use with I-Pac (Buttons 7 and 8 for both players) Will I be able to use all the emu buttons without using the Shift function ?
Third:
I dont know why, but I have imagine 3 buttons for the trackball and spinner. On Opti-Pac there's only place for two. Where should I wire the last one ? Or should I leav it unused ?
Thanks.
Apollo:
You don't need all those buttons, pause, escape etc separately programmed just use your shift key ( by default that is P1 start when the jumper is set to mame ) along with joystick movements for your other commands eg P1 start plus joystick down is pause I think ( could be wrong ).
I-Pac ia fully programable for all keys, you need to shift the jumper from mame to alt and then use the programming utility that came on the disc with the IPac.
You only need 2 mouse buttons however a game like missile command has 3 fire buttons. Wire up the trackball buttons to both your IPac and OptiPac ( I assume you are using one ) so you have 2 sets of wires from each trackball button with one wire going to going both encoders.

Hi,
I know that I can use the shifted keys, but since there will be no instructions on my cab, I don't want to have to memorize all the controls and thats why I would like to do it ... is it possible ?
Regarding the the three buttons ... if I understand correcly ... I may connect the buttons direcly to I-Pac instead of Opti-Pac, right ?

Not sure if this will be helpful, but check out my thread here:

Towards the bottom Andy from UltiMarc posted a link on how to wire up buttons so that they automatically pressed the shift-key AND another button. Take a look at the thread and it will make more sense...
