mounting original Ikari rotary stick in wood panel?

(1/1)

bdsjake:
looking at pics from video connect and ebay, looks like this stick is made for a thin metal control panel.  Has anyone successfully mounted it in a 3/4" wood panel, and how?

was thinking either a mouting plate like from Oscar, or route the top out slightly and mount it on top of control panel.

thanks,

if you don't mind hacking a honking great hole in your control panel then a mounting plate is the way to go.  You can make your own with a hacksaw and a holesaw if you don't want to pay for one, but to be honest they are so cheap you might as well just pay the $$ and save some time.

By the sounds of things you have access to a router, if you want the mounting plate to sit flush with the rest of the control panel you can route a tiny bit off the top of your CP to drop it in.

I mounted my LS30's on top of the CP.  I cut a hole in the CP just large enough for the joystick body.  Then I routed out the top of the cp to allow the joystick frame to sit flush with the top of the CP.  I covered it with Lexan.  I then used screw posts to secure the joysticks.  Here are some low quality pics.  If there is any interest I could take a close up.
